PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitor which precisely detects respiratory and heart rates of a subject in a supine position, sitting position or lateral position in real time.
SOLUTION: The device detects pressure change by respiratory and heart rates, collects pressure change signals thereof, processes digital signals, and analyzes data. The respiratory and heart rates are evaluated by processing the measured pressure change signals, analyzing the data, and separating the signals into respiratory signal components and heart rate signal components. Additionally, signal components for respiratory rate detection and signal components for heart rate detection are composed by using wavelet-transform method. For evaluating reliability of the detected data, SQI is used as an indicator representing quality of the signals. A device in which one or two bent tubes are housed is placed on a position where the pressure change can be detected such as under a pillow, calf, around leg, chair, etc.
