PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light amplifying device capable of securely reducing influence of return light.
SOLUTION: The light amplifying device is equipped with a light amplifying element 2 such as titanium sapphire crystal, an incidence optical system 1 which makes input light L1 incident on the light amplifying element 2, a projection optical system 3 which projects amplified light generated as a result of amplification by the light amplifying element 2 as output light L2, and an excitation part 4. A light branch 30 composed of a beam splitter etc., is installed at a specified position on the optical path of the projection optical system 3, and part of the amplified light is branched to generate branch light L3. Then the branch light L3 is made incident on the light amplifying element 2 through a branch light incidence optical system 5 in specified incidence timing before the return light of the output light L and excitation energy which is left in the light amplifying element 2 after the input light L1 is amplified as to excitation energy supplied from the excitation part 4 is consumed through the amplification of the branch light L3.
