Title LONG AFTERGLOW PHOSPHOR
Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel long afterglow phosphor which exhibits afterglow characteristics of white or multiple colors.
SOLUTION: The long afterglow phosphor comprises Mg2SnO4 and exhibits afterglow characteristics of white color. Mg2SnO4 is doped with a transition metal element or rare-earth element ions, which provides long afterglow phosphors having various emission colors. The above phosphor doped with Mn2+ can provide a long afterglow phosphor which exhibits afterglow characteristics of green color and the above phosphor doped with Cr2+ can provide a long afterglow phosphor which exhibits afterglow characteristics of yellow color. Preferably, Mn2+ or Cr2+ is added so that their concentration in Mg2SnO4 is 0.01 to 10% by mole.

長残光蛍光体は、励起を停止した後も長時間にわたって発光を継続する性質を有する蛍光体であって、蓄光性蛍光体、燐光体などとも呼ばれている。

実用レベルに達している代表的な長残光蛍光体としては、SrAl2O4:Eu,Dyが知られている(例えば、特許文献1を参照)。この長残光蛍光体は、高輝度、長残光の優れた性質を示し、可視光の領域に吸収スペクトルをもつという大きな特徴を有している。
