PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that when performing digital modulation of a single carrier, no metric suitable for effectively reducing instantaneous peak power does not exist, the problem that when performing power amplification of a transmission signal with a great PAR value, reduction of power addition efficiency can not be avoided and it is difficult to make compatible non-linear distortion production and low power consumption, and the conventional problem that a decoding method in which error characteristics are improved utilizing symbol modulation characteristics specific to trellis shaping is desired.
SOLUTION: In order to suppress instantaneous peak power, a partial waveform is determined from continuous I and Q signals at a waveform shaping filter output point. The partial waveform is determined while considering a plurality of continuous symbols. On the basis of a differential between the partial waveform and a limiter threshold, a metric value is applied and a transmission symbol is determined which corresponds to a path minimizing the metric. Furthermore, trellis shaping is regarded as a Markov process and on the basis of a novel trellis, an iterative decoding method utilizing soft decision decoding processing is provided.
