PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding guide and a machine tool having this sliding guide, without increasing a coefficient of dynamic friction even when a sliding speed is small, that is, even in a low speed area.
SOLUTION: This sliding guide is composed of a base having surface roughness of 0.1 μm or less in the maximum height and a moving body slidingly moving on the base, and is characterized by interposing lubricating oil having kinematic viscosity of 85 to 170 mm2/s at 40 °C between the base and the moving body. Its characteristics are that the surface roughness of the base is set to 0.1 μm or less in the maximum height, that is, is formed into a mirror surface more than a conventional base, and the kinematic viscosity at 40 °C of the lubricating oil interposed between the base and the moving body, is set to viscosity higher than conventional lubricating oil as 85 to 170 mm2/s.
