PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect Zurufusi (a knot formed by entanglement and fastening of a plurality of cocoon filaments and solidification with sericin) in high precision by eliminating individual difference derived from naked-eye judgment without collecting a sample yarn.
SOLUTION: A raw silk (10) is traveled and passed in a felt piece (2) connected to a shock sensor (5). A shock caused by friction between the felt piece and a knot during the passage of the knot of the raw silk is detected to be Zurufusi of the knot of the raw silk by the fact that the shock is larger than those of other knots their during passages. Further an electrooptic slub catcher or an electrostatic capacitance type knot detector (9) is arranged in the traveling yarn route of the raw silk, the raw silk is traveled and passed and the output of the shock sensor and the output of the electrooptic slub catcher or the electrostatic capacitance type knot detector are synchronously outputted and displayed.
