PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating a subsurface density structure, which is capable of unequivocally obtaining the subsurface density structure including a density structure in a depth direction.
SOLUTION: The method for estimating a subsurface density structure includes: a first step of creating an earthquake wave velocity structure model showing distributions in horizontal and depth directions of underground earthquake wave velocities, from search equipment location information, terrain information, information of reflection profiles, information of an earthquake wave refraction method, and information of a diversified measurement data group; a second step of creating an initial density structure model by using an optimal relational expression between densities and earthquake wave velocities; a third step of creating a corrected density structure model by comparing a calculated gravity vector value and an observed gravity vector value with each other; a fourth step of creating an optimal density structure model by comparing a calculated gravity tensor value and an observed gravity tensor value obtained by observation, with each other; and a fifth step of converting the optimal density structure model to an earthquake wave velocity structure model and repeating the first to fourth steps to create a theoretical earthquake refracted wave, a theoretical earthquake wide-angle reflected wave, and a theoretical earthquake reflection profile and outputting, as an estimate density structure, an optimal density structure satisfying a prescribed convergence condition.
