PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure an applied force to a soft object such as a ball easily, accurately, and in a noncontact manner.
SOLUTION: The relationship between the amount of deformation X of a ball and the rigidity and viscosity of the ball by ball and by the shape of an object kicking a ball and is stored in a DB 28. A continuous image when a ball is kicked is photographed by a camera 21. An image processing section 23 determines the amount of deformation and position of the ball from the photographed image and supplies it to a control section 29. The control section 29 determines the speed of deformation and the acceleration of the ball from the amount of deformation and position. The control section 29 determines the shape of the contact surface between the ball and a foot and reads corresponding information from the DB 28. The control section 29 determines a force by rigidity, a force by viscosity, and a force by inertia through coefficients read from the DB 28 and outputs the combination of these as an applied force.
