PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently generate electric power while suppressing loss of an injected fluid such as water and occurrence of an induced earthquake.
SOLUTION: A power generation method includes: a first excavation process of excavating an injection well 10 which extends from on the ground to a ductility zone L2 positioned deeper than a brittleness/ductility border B associated with rock deformation behavior in the ground; a reservoir layer formation process for injecting a fluid into the ductility zone L2 from on the ground through the injection well 10 so as to change the area into which the fluid is injected into a local brittle zone area 20a, and generating a crack 20b in the local brittle zone area 20a to form a reservoir layer 20 comprising the local brittle zone area 20a and crack 20b and surrounded with the ductility zone L2; a second excavation process of excavating a production well 30 extending from on the ground to the reservoir layer 20 at a position different from the injection well 10; and a power generation process of generating electric power using a fluid flowing from the reservoir layer 20 to on the ground through the production well 30.
