PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underwater positional relation information acquisition system allowing an underwater vehicle to acquire positional relation information based on transmission waveforms transmitted from a sound source device without synchronizing between the sound source device and the underwater vehicle or without providing a long item disposed on a base line length on the underwater vehicle.
SOLUTION: A conventional combination of a passive ranging sound source (transmitter) and three or more receivers is replaced with a transmitter arrangement including three or more transmitters 140-143 and one receiver 21. With this, by calculating differences in arrival time to the receiver 21 of sound signals transmitted from the respective transmitters 140-143, a piece of relative positional relation information of the receiver 21 as viewed in the arrangement of the transmitters 140-143 can be obtained at the underwater vehicle 2. Thus, the underwater vehicle 2 is not required to transmit sounds or to be equipped with arrangement along a long base line length.
