PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fail-safe mechanism for a base-isolated structure capable of suppressing increase of horizontal displacement when the horizontal displacement approaches the limit of a seismic isolator, and capable of avoiding damage caused by excessive horizontal displacement.
SOLUTION: A seismic isolator is disposed between an upper structure 4 and a lower structure 2. A rolling member 10 having protruded first and second curved surfaces 10a and 10b facing first and second horizontal surfaces 4a and 2a is arranged between the first horizontal surface 4a of the upper structure 4 and the second horizontal surface 2a of the lower structure 2. The upper structure 4 has a recession 4x facing a vertex 10t of the rolling member 10 and the vicinity thereof. When a relative movement distance of the upper structure 4 to the lower structure 2 in the horizontal direction exceeds a prescribed value, the first horizontal surface 4a of the upper structure 4 is brought into contact with the first curved surface 10a of the rolling member 10, the rolling member 10 is rolled in a state of being held between the first horizontal surface 4a and the second horizontal surface 2a, and thus, the upper structure 4 is moved upward.
