PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque limiter that takes safety into consideration in a case of an unexpected power source loss such as blackout by making the torque limit value variable when transmitting the torque on the output side from the input side.
SOLUTION: A torque limiter 10 comprises: an input unit 11 connected to a drive device M on the input side; and an output unit 12 connected to a robot arm A on the output side. The input unit 11 and the output unit 12 include a connection structure for separating and approaching each other so that it is possible to switch between a connection state in which they are mutually connected and a non-connection state in which they are not mutually connected by adjusting the magnetic force therebetween. The connection structure includes an electric magnet 17 that enables adjustment of a magnetic force by adjusting applied voltage in which when the applied voltage is zero, the connection state is established; when the applied voltage is a predetermined value, the non-connection state is established. When the applied voltage is increased from the non-connection state, the connection state is established and the joining force between the input unit 11 and the output unit 12 is increased to raise the torque limit value.
