Abstract To provide a method for producing a negative thermal expansion material represented by Bi1-xAxNi1-yMyMO3 (A is a rare earth element or antimony, and M is a metal that can be a trivalent ion) without using nitric acid or an oxidizing agent. This method enable to produce a safe and high-yield negative thermal expansion material with a small load on the apparatus.
