PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To favorably generate a hydrogen peroxide while improving safety.
SOLUTION: An electrochemical element 10 comprises a film 11a made of an ion conductive electrolyte, on both surfaces of which a first electrode unit 12 and a second electrode unit 13, both of which are composed of electrode catalyst, are arranged. One of the electrodes is an anode and the other is a cathode, and between both electrodes, a direct-current voltage is applied. The electrode catalyst comprising the anode is formed with a catalyst having electrolytic activity of water. The electrode catalyst comprising the cathode is formed with a catalyst having two-electron reduction activity of oxygen and a non-metal conductive material. The surface comprising the anode is arranged so as to face an atmosphere with a higher relative humidity than that of the surface comprising the cathode.
