Technology summary (In Japanese)ミオグロビンは、天然に広く存在するヘム蛋白質の一つであり、酸素の貯蔵がその生理学的役割である。一方、ミオグロビンの補欠分子であるヘム(ポルフィリン鉄錯体)は、酸素分子を結合するだけでなく、酸化反応の触媒としての能力を秘めている。本研究者はこの点に着目し、ミオグロビンに化学的修飾を施すことにより、環境負荷軽減型の新しい生体材料・触媒を開発することを目的とした。具体的には、ミオグロビンへの基質結合部位の構築、活性中心の変換、ヘムポケット(反応場)の改良を試みた。特に、天然ヘムをミオグロビンから除去したアポ蛋白質に対して、修飾した機能化ヘムを挿入することにより、大胆なミオグロビンの機能化を狙った。
